Sideboard

Anna Rieder

The „Eikon“ journeyman's piece that I designed is a sideboard made of blockboards covered with oak veneer. The carcass is butt-jointed and connected by slats. My journeyman's piece is divided into three sections. There are three drawers on the left-hand side, the top drawer is classically run on a grooved runner and the middle and bottom drawers are run mechanically. In the centre section there is an exposed compartment, which gives the piece a certain simplicity. There is a door on the other side, with the area behind it providing enough storage space to store items. Black handles are fitted to make it easy to open and close the drawers and door. The unit is supported by four black steel feet. The surface is finished with a colourless Complex hard oil wax, which brings out the noble colour of the oak.
