PV tracker

Alfons Baldinger

My journeyman's piece is a two-axis tracking photovoltaic system that automatically adjusts to the position of the sun to ensure the best possible angle of irradiation. The control system is based on a sun position diagram, whereby the modules continuously adjust their orientation throughout the course of the day. At sunrise, the system switches to operating mode and begins precise tracking of the modules to maximise the energy yield. At dusk, the system automatically switches to sleep mode. A key feature of the project is the integrated safety concept. If the system detects strong gusts of wind or critical weather conditions, it moves the modules into a horizontal protective position. This prevents damage to the system. In such cases, the owner receives a notification when storm mode is activated or a weather warning is recognised. The combination of intelligent control, automated tracking and robust design makes this photovoltaic system an efficient, safe and sustainable solution for energy generation.
